JXPlorer Problems on Ubuntu

i had quite some problems getting the LDAP Browser JXplorer to run. First of all it claimed it would not be able to find JAVA in my Homepath although it was installed.

Solution to this was to switch the Java Version:

update-alternatives --config java
  Auswahl      Alternative
-----------------------------------------------
          1    /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java
          2    /usr/bin/gij-4.2
          3    /usr/bin/gij-4.3
 +        4    /usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj/jre/bin/java
*         5    /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/jre/bin/java

I had 4 setup before, after i changed it to 5 the installer came to life, but it died like this:

./JXv3.2_install_linux.bin
Preparing to install...
Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive...
Configuring the installer for this system's environment...
nawk: error while loading shared libraries: libm.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
dirname: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
/bin/ls: error while loading shared libraries: librt.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
basename: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
dirname: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
basename: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
hostname: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I found the solution in this posting

I do not really understand what it is doing, but it worked for me:

perl -pi -e 's/export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/#xport LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/'
JXplorer_LDAP_Browser

When i then ran "./JXv3.2_install_linux.bin" the installer installed fine.

Thanks Thomas Robers for sharing your knowledge!
